JULY: Vrksasana (tree pose)


Practicing balance postures improves not only our sense of balance in the body, but also, and perhaps foremost, helps to balance the mind. It requires physical skill to perform balancing postures and a witnessing, unwavering mind to reside comfortably and steadily within the posture.


In tree pose, one is literally aligning the body between the earth and sky. This pose clarifies just how challenging it can be to stand on one leg. When performing tree pose remember that balancing is a process, never something static.
