biography claudia garati

Claudia grew up in Switzerland. She worked for over 15 years in Banking and started practicing Hatha Yoga in 2000 as a way to balance the work pressure and find a better life-work-balance. Soon she was fascinated by its possibilities and after moving to New York, she started to immerse herself deeper into Yoga.

She completed her 500-hour Teacher Training program as a certified yoga instructor (Yoga Alliance RYT500) with YogaWorks New York. At that time, she got the best of both worlds: YogaWorks precision in teaching and Alan Finger’s comprehensive ISHTA-knowledge.

Claudia further studied in New York and San Francisco with ISHTA Yoga founder Alan Finger, Mark Whitwell, Bridget Shields, and with Restorative Senior Teacher Sara Tirner. After 3 years in the US Claudia moved back to Switzerland in 2008.

She continually deepens her knowledge and competence with workshops and immersions on mindfulness, stress management, yoga therapy and breath work with internationally acclaimed teachers. The last few years, she was influenced by Katchie Ananda’s teaching (yoga, Anusara and Dharma teacher).

In 2016, she had the chance to move to Singapore and discovered at Pure Yoga a new style that complements her yoga lineage. Universal Yoga emphasizes on the balance between physical asanas, pranayama and meditation. Towards the end of the year, the founder Andrey Lappa offers a teacher training which she will attend.

Yoga: what it means...

To her, yoga means both statics and dynamics, which are energetically in balance. In her classes she focuses on proper alignment to guarantee both safety and freedom. Her aim as a teacher is to allow the students to find their breath and consequently become present in each asana and in the moment.

Claudia teaches in German, Swiss German and English.
